Arctic Circle's Code of Conduct

Arctic Circle is a nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, founded in 2013. Its core principle is to provide an open, democratic platform for discussion and cooperation on Arctic and global affairs. With participation from governments, organizations, Indigenous communities, corporations, universities, think tanks, environmental associations, and concerned citizens, Arctic Circle has created the largest network for dialogue on the Arctic and our planet.

The Arctic network, with its various Arctic partnerships and collaborations continues, to live and thrive on an open, safe, diverse and inclusive dialogue. Arctic Circle is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. Harassment of participants in any form is not tolerated at any of Arctic Circle’s venues, including sessions, receptions, whether the participation is in-person or virtual, or at any social media channels related to or owned by Arctic Circle. All attendees, speakers, sponsors, staff and volunteers are required to act in a professional and respectful manner.

Arctic Circle Assemblies and Forums’ participants violating these guidelines may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the Arctic Circle Secretariat.

Arctic Circle staff and volunteers are required to demonstrate the highest levels of integrity, honesty and respect in their duties and in the interests of an open and safe platform for the Arctic. In the event of a participant experiencing or witnessing any violation of these rules, said participant can contact the Arctic Circle Secretariat through email (secretariat@arcticcircle.org) and/or inform an Arctic Circle staff member or a volunteer, identified by their branded clothing and/or badges, who are obligated to notify a trusted member of the Secretariat immediately. The Arctic Circle Secretariat can provide assistance with contacting hotel/venue security and/or local law enforcement, provide escorts, and otherwise aid those experiencing harassment - in order to feel safe for the duration of the event.

This Code of Conduct includes guidelines and is not considered as enforceable. It does not bind Arctic Circle to any legal action(s).
