The Arctic Circle Prize has been awarded two times. First in 2016 to Ban Ki-moon, then the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and in 2019 to John Kerry, President Biden's Special Presidential Envoy for Climate and former U.S Secretary of State.
Frederik Paulsen Arctic Academic Action Award
For the first time, the Frederik Paulsen Arctic Academic Action Award was announced at the 2021 Assembly to an action-oriented scientific initiative directed at reversing the dramatic effects of climate change in a concrete way.
