The Arctic Circle Prize has been awarded two times. First in 2016 to Ban Ki-moon who was then the Secretary-General of the United Nations and in 2019 to John Kerry, former U.S Secretary of State and currently President Biden's Special Envoy for Climate Change.

The Frederik Paulsen Arctic Academic Action Awards will be announced for the first time at the 2021 Assembly to an action-oriented scientific initiative that can reverse the dramatic effects of climate change in a concrete way.
